Meikkisiveltimet on ainakin mulle hyvin oleellinen osa meikkaamista, ja niillä voi joissakin tapauksissa olla iso vaikutus lopputulokseen. Uusien sutien hankkiminen on aina kivaa, eikä niitä voi oikein olla liikaa, kun kuitenkin jotkut on aina likasena. Viikonloppuna mulla oli taas sivellinten pesupäivä, ja kun ne nyt kerrankin oli kaikki puhtaina yhtäaikaa, otin sitten niistä kuvat postausta varten. Tässä tulee nyt pienet tarinat kaikista mun siveltimistä.
Makeup brushes are an important part of doing makeup, at least for me, and they can change the finish result a lot. Getting new brushes is always fun, and you can never really have too many of them, some of them are always dirty anyway. Last weekend I had a brush cleansing day, and once they were all clean, I took photos of them for this post. So here's a story of all the brushes that I own.
Ensimmäisenä esittelyssä nämä sienet. Eihän nää edes ole siveltimiä, eikä edes kaikki mitä mulla on. Kuvassa vasemmalla on Beautyblender, oikealla Real Techniquesin Miracle Complexion Sponge, sekä näiden lisäksi mulla on vielä We Care Iconin vastaava, mutta se asuu eri osoitteessa. Kaikki ihan kelpoja, mutta mun suosikki on kuitenkin aito Beutyblender. Yllättäen se kallein on se paras. Väri siitä on kyllä lähteny jatkuvan pesemisen seurauksena, mutta muuten se on kestänyt kyllä käytössä hyvin. Real Techniquesin on ollu mulla vähemmän aikaa, eikä niin kovassa käytössä kuin BB, mutta se on jo jonkin verran kulunut tolta tasaiselta sivulta, vaikkei sitä kuvasta oikein huomaakaan. We Care Iconin on ihan jees halpaan hintaansa nähden, mutta mun makuun turhan pehmeä ja joustava, sekä lisäksi se on hankalampi saada puhtaaksi. Sienten käyttö on mulla aika kausittaista, joskus käytän niitä joka päivä, joskus ne saa olla koskematta parikin kuukautta, ja käytän ennemmin sivellintä tai sormia. Nyt on menossa sienikausi.
First I'll tell about these sponges. Well these aren't even brushes, and not even all I got. On the left there's a Beautyblender, on the right Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I also own one from We Care Icon, but that one lives in a differend address. All of them are fine, but my favourite must be the Beautyblender. Of course the most expensive one is the best one. The colour has faided due to the constant washing, but otherwise it has lasted well. I've had the RT one less time than BB and haven't even used it as much, but it has already started to go a bit gritty on the flat side, even though you can't really see it in the photo.The WCI one is good for the cheap price, but too soft and bouncy for my liking and it is hard to get clean. Using sponges goes in phases on me, sometimes I use them every day, sometimes there might be two months I don't even touch them, just use brushes or fingers instead. Right now I'm going through a sponge phase.
Nämä kaksi We Care Iconin sivellintä on jokapäiväisessä käytössä. Ylempänä oleva puuterisivellin on yks mun vanhimmista, ja ehdottomasti eniten käytetyin. Ja siltä se näyttääkin. Varsikin siitä lähti jo kerran irti, mutta jouduin sen liimaamaan takaisin käyttöiän pidentämiseksi, kun en ole sille vielä yrityksistä huolimatta yhtä hyvää seuraajaa löytänyt. Toi nyt vaan on just sopivan kokonen, monet muut tuntuu olevan liian isoja tai liian pieniä. Täytynee varmaan jossain vaiheessa ostaa uus samanlainen sitten. Jos jotain negatiivista täytyy sanoa, niin karvat ei oo kaikista pehmeimmät. Alempana olevan ostin alunperin poskipunalle, kun sitä kerran sillä nimellä myytiin. Ei se kyllä mulla siinä tarkoituksessa toimi, mutta varjostuksiin se on hyvä. Ei liian kapea, eikä leveä, ei liian tiivis, eikä liian löysä, ja muotokin on kiva.
These two from We Care Icon I use on a daily basis. The powder brush on the top is one of my oldest ones, and definitely the most used one. And it really looks like that as well. Once the handle came off, so I had to glue it back to prolong the lifetime of it, since I haven't found a replacement good enough, even though I've tried. That one is just a perfect size, all others tend to be either too big or too small. I quess I have to repurchase the same one then. If I have to say something negative about it, the bristles are not the softest ones. The one below I originally bought for blush, since it was sold by that name. Well it doesn't work on that purpose on me, but for contour it is great. Not too thin, but not too thick, not too dense, but not too loose, and the shape of it is nice.
Tän setin tilasin Mini in the boxista jokunen vuosi sitten. Tää setti kustansi muistaakseni nelisen euroa, ja näiden lisäksi siihen kuului lehmäkuosinen kotelo, sekä vaahtomuoviaplikaattori, joka ikävä kyllä hajosi. Näistä ylimpänä oleva poskipunasivellin on päivittäisessä käytössä, halvan tuntuisesta kevyestä varresta huolimatta, itse karvaosa on pehmeä ja kivan kokoinenkin. Kahta sen alapuolella olevaa litteää luomivärisivellintä käytän silloin tällöin, en kovin aktiivisesti, kun pidän enemmän vähän pulleammista siveltimistä. Ripsikampaa, viistosivellintä ja huulipunasivellintä en käytä juuri koskaan.
This set I ordered from Mini in the box a few years ago. It cost like four euros, and with these, there was olso a cow printed case and a sponge applicator that unfortunately broke. The blush brush on the top I use almost everyday. The handle is very light and cheap feeling, but the actual head is very soft and nicely sized. The two flat eyeshadow brushes below that I use sometimes, not that often though ,since I prefer a bit fatter ones. The lash comb, the angled one and the lip brush I use barely ever.
Nää Cailap by Mariela Sarkiman ei oo pelkästään söpön värisiä, vaan on käytössäkin hyviä. Ylimmän isohkon häivytyssiveltimen ostin jostain outletista. Tykästyin siihen niin paljon, että halusin ostaa toisen samanlaisen, mutta eihän niitä ollut saatavilla muuta kuin smoky eyes-setissä, joten ostin sitten sen. Ihan kivoja noi pienemmätkin on, mutta pääasiassa käytän vaan noita isoja. Varsinkin näin kesällä, suurimman osan ajasta oon ainoana luomivärinä käyttäny Narsin Laguna-aurinkopuuteria, ja siihen tollanen isohko häivytyssivellin on kyllä loistava.
These ones from Cailap by Mariela Sarkima are not just cute coloured, but they actually work. The big blending brush on the top I bought from an outlet. I fell in love with it, and wanted to buy another one, but the only ones available were in a smoky eyes set, so I had to buy it. Those smaller ones are good as well, but mostly I use just the bigger ones. Especially in the Summer, pretty much the only eyeshadow I've been wearing has been Nars Laguna-bronzer, that kind of big blenging brush is just great for that.
Tän Real Techniquesin Starter Setin sain joululahjaks viime vuonna. Kaks ylintä on ihan hyviä perussuteja mitä tarvii aina. Keskimmäinen väittää olevansa kulmakarvasivellin, mutta se on kyllä ihan liian iso ja paksu siihen hommaan. En oo edes koittanu sitä siihen, kun sen näkee jo kaukaa ettei siitä hyvä tuu, mutta alaluomelle oon joskus tolla jotain laittanu ja kyllä se siinä ihan toimii. Kaks pienintä on jääny kyllä hyvin vähäiselle käytölle, en vaan jaksa olla niin tarkka ja huolellinen että tarvittaisiin noin pieniä suteja. Oikeastaan en muista alinta käyttäneeni koskaan.
This Real Techniques Starter Set I got for Christmas last year. Two on the top are good basic everyday brushes that you'll always need. The middle one claims to be a brow brush, but it is way too big and thick for that. I haven't even tried it on my brows, because you can see from a distance, that it's not going to work, but I've used it on my lower lash line, and it does work on that. I haven't really been using the two at the bottom, I just can't be bothered to be so precise that I'd need that tiny brushes. Actually I don't think I've used the most bottom one a single time.
Tässä ois mun meikkivoidesiveltimet. Mun ensimmäinen oli keskellä oleva Cailapin. Ei ihan hirveesti tuu enää käytettyä tollasta litteetä. Joskus käytän sitä kasvonaamion levitykseen, sorminkin saa kyllä ihan hyvin, mutta siveltimellä se vaan tuntuu enemmän luksukselta. Ylemmän, RT:n expert face brushin, ostin joskus parisen vuotta sitten Youtuben innoittaman, sitä kun käytettiin vähintään joka toisella meikkivideolla. Ihan jees suti, joskin nykysin harvemmin tulee käytettyä, varsinkin näin sienikaudella. Alimmaisena olevan stippling brushin ostin puuterisiveltimeks, mutta eihän se siinä toiminut sitten niin yhtään, karvatkin vaan raapi puuterin pinnan ihan murusiks. Meikkivoiteella se toimii paremmin, ei jätä niin raidallista pintaa, kuin muut meikkivoidesiveltimet.
So here are my foundation brushes. Oldest one is the Cailap one in the middle. I don't really use those flat brushes anymore. Sometimes I use this for applying a face mask, fingers works just fine, but it just feels more luxurious with a brush. I was inspired by Youtube to buy the RT expert face brush on the top, since at one point it was used in at least every other makeup video. It's an ok brush, I just don't use it that much anymore, especially on a sponge season. The stippling brush at the bottom I bought for powder, but it just didn't work on that at all, the bristles just scrape the surface of the powder into crumbs. It works better on foundation, doesn't even leave as many strikes on the face as other foundation brushes do.
Nämä Real Techniquesin on jäänyt hyvin vähäiselle käytölle. Ylimmän, setting brushin, ostin silmänalusten puuteroimiseen. Käytyn sitä siihen ehkä viikon, totesin että ero normaaliin ei oo niin suuri, että jaksaisin käyttää kahta sutia puuteroimiseen. Jos joskus harvoin käytän jotain korostuspuuteria, niin siihen kyllä käytän tätä. Paras tää on kyllä varisseiden ripsarin murusten pois pyyhkimiseen. Keskimmäinen, bold metals-sarjan 301 on kallein ostamani sivellin, maksoin siitä noin kakskymppiä. Ja se oli kyllä ihan hukkaan heitettyä rahaa, en tykkää tästä yhtään. Se on niin tiivis, että ei toimi ainakaan puuterimaisilla tuotteilla ollenkaan, vaan jättää vaan tummia raitoja. Voidemmaisille tuotteilla vois ehkä toimia paremmin, en tiedä, en ole kokeillut. Alimpana puuterisivellin, jonka ajattelin korvaavan sen We Care Iconin, mutta ei. Toi on vaan niin iso, etten tykkää yhtään. Jos se ois vähänkin pienempi, niin vois ollakin ihan kiva.
I haven't really gotten a lot use out of these Real Techniques ones. The setting brush on the top, I bought for powderin the under eyes. I used it for that for like a week, realized that the difference to normal wasn't that big, that I'd bother to use two different brushes for powdering. If I use a highlighter, I use this for that, but that doesn't happen that often. The best way to use it is to swipe away the mascara flakes fallen on the cheeks. The middle one, 301 from the bold metals range, is the most expensive brush I've ever bought, I paid like twenty euros for it. And it was a wasted money, I don't like this at all. It is so dense that it doesn't work at all, at least on powder products. It might work better on cream products, I'm not sure, I haven't tried. The powder brush at the bottom I bought because I thought it could replace the We Care Icon one, but no. It is just so big, that I don't like it at all. If it was any smaller, it could actually be nice.
Nää on yksittäisiä silmämeikkisiveltimiä, joille ei oo settiä tai paria. Ylimpänä kokoelmani uusin tulokas, Sigman E38. Mitä nyt muutaman kerran oo kerinny kokeileen, nii vaikuttaa kyllä ihan hyvältä. Sen alapuolella on Iberon häivytyssivellin, joka tuli joskus viime vuonna LivBoxista. On kyllä hyvä, eikä ees pahan hintanen. Jos pitäis suositella yhtä näistä kaikista siveltimistä, niin olis se tää. Keskimmäisenä Colourpopin häivytyssivellin, joka tuli kaupanpäälisenä. Ihan hyvä perussivellin se on. Sen alla vaahtomuoviaplikaattori, mikä on ostettu Seppälästä silloin joskus kauan sitten, kun ihmiset vielä käytti näitä, eikä oikeita siveltimiä. Siitä taitaa olla jo moooonta vuotta ku oon tota käyttäny viimeks. Alimpana on mun vanhin sivellin, ostin tän joskus vuoden 2008 tienoilla Euromarketista. Käytin tätä silloin niin, että kastelin ensin, ja otin sitten Wet'nWildin tummanharmaata shimmeristä luomiväriä ja tein silmänrajaukset. Voi niitä aikoja :D
These are some individual eye brushes, that doesn't have a set or a pair. On the top, newes member of the collection, Sigma E38. I've tried this a couple of times, and it seems to be pretty good. Below that, there's a blending brush from Ibero, that I got in a subscription box. It is so good, and well priced. If I had to recommend just one out of all these, it would be this one. In the middle there's a Colourpop blending brush, that I got as a free gift. Very good basic brush. The one below that, is a sponge applicator that was bought in the era when people used those instead of proper brushes. It's been maaaany years since the last time I used it. At the bottom, there's my oldest brush, I bought it around 2008. Back then, I used to wet it, then take a dark grey shimmery eye shadow from Wet'n'Wild, and then line my eyes. Good old times :D
Vielä viimeiset sekalaiset. Tai no, kaikki yhtä lukuunottamatta on H&M:ltä. Kaks ylintä kakpäistä on kyllä kolmen euron siveltimiks tosi hyviä. Kulmasivellin on sopivan kapea ja jämäkkä, luomivärisivellin taas pehmeä ja kivan väljä. Alakulman kabuki-siveltimen olemassaolon olin jo melkein ehtinyt unohtaa, kun se ei oikein mahdu samaan purkkiin kuin muut, niin on siitä syystä majaillut eri paikassa. Vaikka se olisikin jossain käden ulottuvilla, tuskin silti käyttäisin, kun sekin on niin iso ja aika karheakin. Urban Decayn Ultimate Basics paletin mukana tullut kaksipäinen sivellin on muuten ihan jees perussuti, mutta varsi on mun makuuni ihan liian lyhyt. Mutta eipä siihen paletin koloon olis isompaa mahtunutkaan.
And here are the last random ones. Or actually all but one are from H&M. The two double-ended on the top are very good for three euro brushes. The brow brush is thin and sturdy enough, and the eyeshadow one is soft and nicely loose. I had almost forgotten the existence of the kabuki brush in the bottom corner, since it doesn't fit into the same pot as the rest, so it lives elsewhere. I don't think I'd use it even if it didn't, cause it's too big and not even soft. The one that came with the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics palette, is a nice basic brush, but too short for my liking. But a bigger one wouldn't have fitted in the hole on the palette.
