First favourites of the year

Aika esitellä alkuvuoden suosikkijuttuja. Tuntui, että ihan hirveästi näitä ei ollut kertynyt, mutta kyllähän tässä sellainen satsi on, että postauksen sai aikaiseksi. Viime aikoina olen viettänyt melko paljon aikaa kotona, joten en ole meikannut läheskään joka päivä, ja silloin kun olen, olen yrittänyt käyttää loppuun tuotteita, jotka mulla on ollut jo jonkun aikaa, eikä välttämättä ole niitä ihan lemppareita. Sama koskee myös vaatteita, sillä kotona ollessa tulee lähinnä käytettyä collegehousuja ja jotain kulahtanutta paitaa. Siitä syystä nämä tämän kertaiset suosikit painottuvat ihonhoitoon ja ruokaan.

Time to show some favourites from the beginning of the year. I felt like I didn't have many of these this time, but guess there's enough for a blog post. Lately I've spent a lot of time at home, so I haven't been wearing a lot of makeup, and when I have been wearing , I've been using products that I've had for a while and are not necessary the nicest ones. Same goes with clothing, because all I wear at home is sweatpants and an old top. So that's why these favourites are mainly skincare or food.

Oon tämän kanssa ehkä vähän jälkijunassa, sillä Lumenen Valo Glow Boost hyaluronitiivistettä ja sen edeltäjää on hehkutettu kaikissa blogeissa jo useamman vuoden. Itse ostin tämän vasta viime vuoden lopussa, kun se sattui Tokmannilla olemaan tarjouksessa. Alkuun en ihan hirveästi tälle lämmennyt, mutta jonkun ajan kuluttua aloin huomaamaan eron. Iho näyttää terveemmältä ja hyvin kosteutetulta, ainakin läheltä katsottaessa. Tuskin maksaisin tästä sitä lähemmäs kolmenkympin normaalihintaa, mutta noin viidentoista euron tarjoushinnalla sen kyllä kotiuttaa ihan mielellään.

I'm a bit late with this one, since Lumene Valo Glow Boost hyaluronic essence has been raved about in every blog for a few years. I only bought this at the end of last year when it was on offer. At first, I felt like it was doing nothing, but then I started seeing some difference. My skin looks healthier and well hydrated, at least when looking at from close. I don't think I'd pay the full price, which is almost 30€, but when it's on offer for half off, it's worth buying.

Vaselinen aloe vera huulirasva on yks niistä tuotteista, jotka on ollu mulla jo jonkin aikaa ja oon nyt koittanu käyttää loppuun. Ostin tän joskus lukioaikoina, enkä olen sen ajan jälkeen käyttänyt ennen kuin nyt viime viikkoina. Onhan se jo vähän vanha, mutta sen koostumus ei ole muuttunut, eikä pakkauksesta edes löydy sitä purkin kuvaa, joka kertoo sen suositellun käyttöiän. Tää kosteuttaa tavallista puikkohuulirasvaa enemmän, joten on tälleen talvella se on erittäin hyvä. Yleensä käytän tehokkaampaan huulten kosteutukseen Elizabeth Ardenin Eight Hour Creamia tai Clarinsin huuliöljyä, mutta ne kaks on melko hintavia, kun taas Vaseline maksaa vain pari euroa. Mikäli siis sitä enää edes myydään missään. Ainoa huono puoli on, että koska tätä levitetään sormin, menee se aina kynsien alle, varsinkin kun tuotteesta on enää reunat jäljellä.

Vaseline aloe vera lip balm is one of those products, that I've had for a while and been trying to use up. I bought this back in upper secondary school, and hadn't used it since, until few weeks ago. It it quite old, but the texture or anything else hasn't changed. This moisturizes more that a normal stick lip balm, so this is good for the winter. Usually when my lips need extra hydration, I use either Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream or the Clarins lip oil, but those two are quite pricey, and the Vaseline one only costs a couple of euros. As long as it is still available. The only downside is, that since this is been used with fingers, it goes under nails, especially when all there is left is the edges.

Organic Shopin vartalokuorintoja hehkuttaa kyllä kaikki, jotka niitä on kokeillut. Enkä kyllä ihmettele yhtään, on ne kyllä hintansa arvoisia ja enemmän. Mun omistama organic mango & sugar tuoksuu hyvälle, tekee ihosta pehmeän ja sen kuorivat rakeetkin ovat juuri sopivan kokoisia. Että suosittelen kyllä kokeilemaan, neljä euroa ei ole ollenkaan paha hinta.

The Organic Shop body scrubs are raved about by everyone who has tried them out. And it's no wonder, since they are so worth their price and more. The organic mango & sugar one that I own, smells nice, makes the skin feel soft and the scrubby bits are just the right size. So I really recommend to try these out, since the price of four euros is not bad at all.

Ostin We Care Iconin Expert Face Blending Sponge -meikkisienen ensimmäisen kerran joskus viime keväänä tai kesänä muistakseni, ja nyt tammikuussa ostin toisen. Ensimmäinenkin on ihan hyvä, mutta tämä uudempi on vielä parempi. Ensimmäinen on makuuni vähän turhan pehmeä, eikä se lähde puhtaaksi liian helpolla. Tämä toinen taas on pehmeydeltään ja kiinteydeltään juuri sopiva, ja peseytyykin helposti. Jos verrataan aitoon ja alkuperäiseen Beautyblenderiin, jonka hankin joskus pari vuotta sitten, on tämä lähes identtinen, ainoana erona että We Care Iconista ei irtoa pinkkiä väriä pesun yhteydessä. Ostin viime syksynä sen marmorikuvioidun Beautyblenderin, ja se on kyllä ihan kuraa. Kosteanakin se imee meikkivoidetta itseensä kuin sieni (hehheh), tuntuma on omituinen, eikä se lähde edes puhtaaksi millään. Ilmeisesti muuttunut koostumus ei koske pelkästään marmorikuvioitua versiota. Että tämän kokemuksen perustella en näe itseäni ostamassa enää aitoa Beautyblenderiä, vaan hankin ennemmin näitä halvempia, näitä kun saa yhden Beautyblenderin hinnalla kolme.

I bought my first We Care Icon Expert Face Blending Sponge last year Spring or Summer, can't remember, and the second one now in January. The first one was just fine, but this newer one is even better. The first one is a bit too soft for my liking, and it doesn't come clean that easily. This second one's softness and density are perfect, and it comes clean so easy. If compared to the authentic Beautyblender, which I bought a couple of years ago, this one is pretty much identical, the only difference being that the We Care Icon one doesn't bleed pink colour in every wash. Last autumn I bought the marble printed Beautyblender, and I have to say that that one is just not good. Even when damp it soaks up so much foundation, it has a weird feel to it and there's no way of getting it completely clean. And I quess the changed texture is not just about the marble one only. So with this experience I don't see myself buying another Beautyblender, I'm rather gonna purchase these more affordable ones, since for the price of one Beautyblender, I can get three of these.

Maraboun Pigall oli mun suosikkisuklaapatukka jo monta vuotta sitten, mutta sitten se katos kauppojen hyllyiltä. Mutta nyt se on tullut takaisin! Ensin se ei vaikuttanut yhtä hyvältä kuin silloin ennen, mutta kummasti näitä on kyllä tullut kannettua kotiin kauppareissulta jo usempana kertana. Päältä se on sulkaata ja sisällä on pehmeä, pähkinäinen täyte, oikein hyvä yhdistelmä. 

Marabou Pigall used to be my favourite chocolate bar years ago, but then it disappeared from the shops. But now it has come back! At first it didn't think it was as good as it used to be, but somehow I've ended up carrying these home from a grocery for multiple times. On the outside it's chocolate, and on the inside there's a soft, nutty filling, a very good combo.

Viime kuukausien aikana olen yrittänyt kuluttaa teekokoelmastani niitä tylsiä, ei niin lemppareita makuja. Yellow label ja earl grey kuitenkin alkoi jo pikkuhiljaa kyllästyttää, joten nappasin kerran ässästä mukaani Twiningsin teepakkauksen, jossa oli muutamaakin eri makua. Niistä parhaiksi osoittautua vanilja ja omenakanelirusina. Näistä omenakanelirusina on suosikki jo monen vuoden takaa, mutta vanilja on vähän uudempi tuttavuus. Täytyisi joskus muistaa ostaa kokonainen pakkaus jompaa kumpaa näistä. Sen kyllä sanon, että näissä on pussien koko kasvanut parin viimevuoden aikana, joten nämä ei mahdu mun hienoon teelaatikkooni niin hyvin kuin vanhat pussit mahtuivat.

During the past few months, I've been trying to use those boring, not my fave, flavours from my tea collection. I started to get a bit bored of the yellow label and earl grey, so I picked up a pack of Twinings teas with a few different flavours. The best of those ended up being the vanilla and the apple, cinnamon & raisin ones. Out of these, the apple, cinnamon & raisin I've liked for many years, but the vanilla one is a newer acquaintance. I should remember to buy a full pack of either one of these sometime. The one thing I have to say, is that in the past couple of years the size of the bags has grown, so they don't fit into my fancy tea box as well as the old ones did.

Tää on hyvin random, mutta siis ruokakerma. Syön kanaa enemmän kuin punasta lihaa, ja oon vasta nyt keksinyt että kanaa voi syödä myös kastikeen muodossa. Meillä on kotikotona syöty kana aina "kuivana" eli sellasenaan, joten samalla linjalla oon jatkanut myös pois kotoa muutettuani. Yksin kun asun, niin usein syön samaa ruokaa useamman päivän putkeen, ja kuivana ruoka alkaa kuivua jääkaapissa, mutta kastikeena syöntimukavuus pysyy parempana pidempään. Yleisin versio mulla kanakastikkeesta on paketti Atrian guajillo-chili fileesuikaleita, noin puolikas paprika ja purkki kuvassa näkyvää kermaa.

This one is a very random one, but a cooking cream. I eat chicken more than I eat red meat, and I've only just realized that chicken can be eaten in a form of a sauce. At home, chicken has always been eaten "dry", as the way it is when fried, and that has been the way for me to continue after moving out. Since I live alone, I often eat the same food for a couple of days in a row, and when dry, the food starts to dry up faster in the fridge, but when it's a sauce, it stays nicer to eat for longer. My usual way of making a chicken sauce is to use a packet of chili flavoured chopped chicken, half a bell pepper and a can of the cream in the picture.

Viimeisenä popsocket eli puhelimenpidike tai miten ikinä se suomentuukaan. Ensalkuun kun sen kuoreen liimasin, tuntui se hirveältä möhkäleeltä sormien välissä, mutta äkkiä siihen tottui, ja nyt en osaisi olla ilman. Tämä ehkäisee myös älypuhelinpikkusormen syntymistä. Tilasin tämän Wishiltä, koska en muualtakaan löytänyt nättiä, omaan makuun sopivaa, vaan kaikissa oli jotain donitsien tai ananasten kuvia, tai sitten vähintään toi keskiosa oli musta. Plussaa myös siitä, että sitä voi heijastavan pääliosan johdosta tarvittaessa käyttää myös peilinä.

Lastly a popsocket aka a phone grip. When I first stuck it up on my phone, it felt like a big chunk between my fingers, but then I got used to it, and now I can't live without it. This also prevents me from getting a smartphone pinky. I ordered this from Wish, since it was the only place I found a pretty one from. All the other ones had like pictures of donuts or pineapples or at least the middle bit was black. And since the top is reflective, it can be used as a mirror in need.
